Meta Title
The HTML title tag of a page, displayed as the clickable headline in search results and browser tabs.
Full definition
The meta title (technically the `<title>` tag) is one of the most important on-page SEO elements. It appears as the blue clickable link in SERPs, in browser tabs, and when pages are shared on social media. Best practices include: placing the primary keyword near the beginning, keeping length between 50–60 characters to avoid truncation, making it compelling and click-worthy, and including the brand name at the end. Google sometimes rewrites meta titles if they are deemed too short, keyword-stuffed, or mismatched with the page's content. Unlike the meta description, the meta title is confirmed to be a direct ranking signal.
Real-world example
Changing a page title from 'Our Services' to 'SEO Services for E-Commerce Brands | Omakaase' increases the page's impressions for relevant queries by 210% within 8 weeks.
